Journey For Smiles is a non profit program whose mission is to provide free dental care to orphaned and underprivileged children in Vietnam. Founded by dentists coming to Vietnam, program enhances the lives of orphaned children by showing them there is hope in Vietnam. The program’s success is measured by how well we prevent and treat dental disease for these underprivileged children.
Beginning in 2004, we saw the first dental volunteers come to Vietnam to help treat underprivileged children. Annually, the number under the program has grown to over 900 children treated in 2010.
The program’s current director and founder is Dr. Andrew H.F.Tsang, Managing Director with Westcoast International Dental Clinics. With the alliance with Westcoast, Journey for Smiles attains clinical space and supplies to the program as well as allocates dental nurses is donated to the program. To assist in the program’s teaching and treatment missions, volunteers are called to support the program annually.

Current Objectives:
We are aiming to have 5000 Children treated in 2015 under a strong local team.
Eliminate the incidence of periodontal disease and caries by the time the children reach 15 years of age.
Establish sound oral hygiene and nutritional counseling instruction at all participating orphanages.
Eliminate the incidence of dental emergencies that may cause serve pain, infection and high risk to systemic health.
Every child leaves the program at 18 years of age with some experience that there is hope in the world. That there are local and foreign volunteers willing to help, in that the world can be a good place.
